Dealing with A World Pandemic
by: ScorpioBy now, the entire world is dealing with affects of Covid-19 or the Corona Virus.
Life seemed pretty normal up until mid March for most residents in the United States. State and Local governments began imposing restrictions limiting travel abroad and within the U.S. Because there was not much information available on the virus, citizens were told to limit their outdoor activities to essential needs to help prevent the spread.
The Shockwave that reached across borders has taken a toll on regular life as we knew it. Based on the treacherous attack the Respiratory Infection causes, Hospitals and Medical Facilities were bombarded with patients. According to reports, It was quite necessary to shut down the Country although some may disagree. In efforts to curve the spread, the steps to #StayHome across the nation have actually reduced the number of new cases. Staying Home during this Pandemic can actually save lives, especially with testing still being conducted. In addition, it has been stated that some people may not have any symptoms but may actually be a carrier, so this is definitely unfamiliar territory.
I know things will change as a result of this Global Pandemic. Many things we may have been unmindful of before will make a lot of sense in hindsight. Like Sanitation for example, unless we allow technology to pave the way, using hands free technology, we will be on a constant cleaning spree. I have thought about sanitation prior to Covid-19. I would think about how often Restaurants and places of business would sanitize and disinfect their establishments, doors and random surfaces that people touch. I was always leery about sanitation before the pandemic, so I'm certain a lot of efforts and regulations will need to go into place surrounding cleaning before we can attempt to get back to normal.
It is puzzling how the CDC which should be on the brink of leading the way for controlling and maintaining outbreaks, appears to have had no clear plan. If anyone was aware of infectious diseases on the spread, I feel it should've been the CDC. I am optimistic that this horrible incident will create awareness on greater levels for preventive measures that should have been taken, and create a better contingency plan to be proactive in monitoring, administering testing, and better prevention tactics; be ahead of the curve!
The most important thing we as citizens can do is, stay safe, protect our families and loved ones, and follow the rules or instructions provided by the great people that run this Nation. Another important thing we as citizens can do is, Remain Calm. I don't think Panicking during a Pandemic would be very effective. It may be extremely frustrating and inconvenient because some people don't fully understand All that is going on during this time. Being restricted and having to limit the amount of times we go grocery shopping is a big deal however, we need to think about someone other than ourselves for once. Although this is not the best time for our Nation, I still believe in being positive and looking for the light in all of this darkness.
Schools are closed and students are at home completing homework assignments online and some are finding challenges with all of this, while other's are adapting just fine. I think people are split on how they really feel about this situation. Some people like the kid's being at home and homeschooling while other's do not. Many have lost their jobs and in most State's, non-essential workers may have been laid off and are forced to stay home. For some American's this entire situation has been disastrous leaving parent's little options having to decide if going out in public risking the health of their entire family is even worth going to work to get their paycheck, if in fact their employer is still open for business. It appears the affects of this pandemic will remain long after the virus is gone. People are having a hard time adjusting to this new way of living and it will be just as challenging for some when the Country opens back up.
Many American's are eager to get out of the house and get back to work and life as they formally knew it, however there are things that need to be Understood. We have to be certain that we aren't being impatient and irrational. It is important that we stop the spread of Covid-19, and if it means staying home a few more weeks, We are America Strong, We got this! As uncomfortable or inconvenienced we may feel, I'm sure this is being done in the best interest of American's. We have to be mindful that this virus was allegedly first reported in Wuhan, China. Understanding the impact the virus had in China and surrounding countries, I can appreciate the President Donald J. Trump for taking actions when he did. Strangely, the President's approval rate was down before the Pandemic and has since increased tremendously as if Pandemics and Politics were one in the same.
